Changes to be made

Today I have gone through my music video so far with my course teacher. We have made note on the changes I need to make to produce a final high quality piece of work:

1) Re-shoot the scenes in the town in day light, so that the lighting is better and not grainy.
2) Re-shoot some of the studio shots close up, as a lot of my scenes are medium shots.
3) Move some of the shots around so that the transactions fit with the drop in the music.
4) Constantly refere to the specification so that I can meet level 4 expectations.

Level 4 Specification 48–60 marks

There is evidence of excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills:

holding a shot steady, where appropriate;
- framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate;
- using a variety of shot distances as appropriate;
- shooting material appropriate to the task set;
- selecting mise-en-scène including colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting;
- editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer;
- using varied shot transitions and other effects selectively and appropriately for the task set;
- using sound with images and editing appropriately for the task set;
- using titles appropriately.

Editing....

I have after two weeks of starting, finished a rough copy of my music video, with all my chosen clips used to my piece of music.  I will now assess any changes or new set of filming I need to do to make sure my final product is of good quality and something that I am pleased with.

Studio Filming

I have completed my studio filming today in the Photography Studio at school, so I used the lights to add effect in the background to use for the chorus scenes to contrast with the scenes I have shot in the town. I will use video effects on these shots such as the timing and style.

First set of filming

I have done my first set of initial filming in town with three models, one of them playing the part of 'Katy B'.  Due to one of my models being late it started to get dark in the town I was filming in so therefore a lot of my shots are quite dark. My next shoot I am filming in the studio so I can have my model lip sync to camera and so that I can use the studio filming for the majority of my editing effects.

Audience Research

I have conducted a survey on Survey Monkey so that I can begin planning ideas and work towards including features in my video that will appeal to my target audience. From this survey I will be able to work out a rough age range/target audience to aim my media product towards.

Filming Ideas

For the storyline of my music video I want to keep to the idea of the main character 'running late' I will do this with long shots of streets.

Location shots will be key in my video to set the scene.

I will use direct lip syncing shots to camera with my model, I will do this in a studio so that I can get good lighting and can add video effects to these shots, so that I am sticking to the traditional values of a music video rather than making my video story based.

I will do some filming with my model and friends, like in the official video, for these scenes I will use close ups and look at different camera angles.

Rinse FM

"London's biggest 'pirate' radio station to bring dubstep, UK funky and other new urban sounds into the mainstream"

Rinse FM was formally London's biggest pirate radio station which has recently gone legit. It was first formed by 16 year old DJ Geeneus 'G' when he broadcasted his first pirate radio how from a tower block in Tower Hamlets, East London.

With decks and mixer balancing precariously on top of a homemade transmitter jammed between the sink and the cooker of his friend's 18th floor flat, Geeneus leant out of the window, pointed his aerial towards Hackney – and turned the music up loud.
Sixteen years, countless rooftop broadcasts and dozens of brushes with the law later, Rinse FM, often called the most influential pirate station on air and credited with bringing artists such as Dizzee Rascal and grime star Wileyto the public consciousness, is finally going legit, to the slightly bemused delight of its 32-year-old founder. "Getting the licence gave me the strangest feelings. Nothing don't faze me ... but that did," he said.
As well as running successful club nights in London, the station also has a label that has just seen artist Katy B make it into the top five of the UK charts. Her track On A Mission has been viewed more than 2.7m times on YouTube.

BIG CHANGE

I have as of this week started from the beginning on a new music video, as my group has unfortunately fallen apart. With one of the girls dropping the course and the others attendance being difficult for me to work with I have decided I am going to work on my own and start a new song to produce a video for. This will be a challenge for me as I have little time to complete the task but I am determined to do it and do it to a high quality.

The song I have chosen is Katy B - Louder

The genre of this song is very different to the song I was previously working on yet I feel this genre would be more enjoyable to work with and will allow me to explore various editing techniques for a high quality final product.
